We Capuchin Franciscans are a worldwide Catholic order of brothers (=friars) consecrated by religious vows to living fully the gospel of Jesus Christ after the spirit and manner of St. Francis of Assisi. Many of us brothers are also priests.

Capuchins friars build their life and ministry on two essential foundations: prayer and brotherhood.  Personal and community prayer nourishes their relationships with God and empowers their ministry.  Their fraternal life provides them companionship while witnessing brotherhood to an isolated and alienated world.  Capuchins profess the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, making poverty or simplicity of life their special gift to the church.  While they give preference to living and working among the poor, the Capuchins do not limit themselves to any particular work or ministry  . In whatever apostolic work they do, Capuchins attempt to live with and serve others as "Friars Minor" or "lesser brothers."  The Capuchin friars have long been regarded as peacemakers.
