Who are the Baptists?
We are a family of Christians, committed to Christ, to one another and
to the service of God in the world.
In this Baptist family everybody is equal - there are no bishops or
priests exercising authority.
We have one full-time minister and others share the leadership of the
church as deacons, or are involved in teaching or pastoral care.
As a local church, we are self-governing and self-supporting, but we
are also part of the
Baptist Union of Great Britain
and the Heart of England
Baptist Association.
Whilst we tolerate differences of outlook and diversity of practice the
Bible is where we discover God's way for living. Baptism is for those
who are able to declare "Jesus is Lord" and to symbolise their desire
to "die to self' and live for Christ by immersion in water, following
the example of our Lord and the early Church.
Email the minister for more
information or read the
European Baptist Federation statement on this subject.
