About our Services

We are pleased to welcome visitors to Dogsthorpe Methodist Church. Please stay to chat over tea or coffee after the service. There are also people who can talk and pray with you for any need in complete confidence.

Methodist worship is quite varied, but you will always find singing of hymns and songs (old and new), readings from the Bible in a modern easily understood translation, heartfelt prayers which relate to what is going on in the world, and reflections on how the message of Jesus is relevant to life today.

Sunday Services

  • 10.00am Funday Club

  • 10.30am Morning Worship

  • 6.30pm Evening Worship

Fridays

Every Friday night at 8.00, we hold a service of prayer, meditation and healing.

Funday Club

For ages 4 - 12 meets each Sunday during school term time from 10.00am. to 11.30am. Funday Club is open to all - just come along and join in!

We have 'FUN' learning about God and Jesus and how they are important to our lives today. We use modern songs from Christian CDs, watch videos, and do acting, craft work, cooking and play games to learn of God's love for us. We sometimes join in worship in the main church, but mainly stay in our own part of the church building.

Our main leaders are church trained children's workers and are approved by the Methodist Church to work with children. We also run holiday Kid's Clubs - look out for the publicity distributed through the local schools.

Holy Communion

In Holy Communion we remember the Last Supper and the last words that Jesus said to his disciples before he was taken away to be crucified. At Dogsthorpe there is a Holy Communion Service at least once a month.

The 4th Sunday Experience - Creative Worship

Starts at 17.30pm in place of the normal evening service. It starts with a shared meal before exploring worship in a creative, active way together through informal worship and workshops. A chance to participate in worship and to spend time to share over a meal.

Friday Evening Worship

Informal prayer, worship & meditation at 8pm.

The worship itself takes many forms from discussion, praise, movement, music, meditations, writing and so on which is helpful for developing a personal way of worshipping. The second service of each month is a service of healing. It is an opportunity to bring concerns for prayer and to spend time moving closely into God's presence.

Teaching Service

While the Bible is used in all services, here the focus is on discovering together the meaning of the Bible for Today.

United Services

Dogsthorpe Methodist Church seeks to work closely with other churches - both in the Methodist Circuit and with other local churches.
